Like it or not, there will be times when you will hate yourself.
Times when you will wake up in the morning and don’t want to leave your bed. Times when you will start doubting your decisions, your life choices, and your own moves.
When you want to quit everything or simply not start something new at all.
The only thing you want to do now is to throw away your backpack, never go back to school or college again, and leave it all behind because it is NOT WORTH IT ANYMORE!
These are the tough times. When you feel that you just don’t fit into the world. That you should not even exist. I know this because I have been there. And for a long time to be honest.
I had that feeling so many times, that I’m not following the right path. That I have made a wrong decision. I know exactly how it feels to be lost.
To sit on that chair and look at the white board while the teacher is talking. To imagine myself in a different place, studying something different and maybe enjoying it. And then asking myself this question: “What am I doing here?”
When these times come, be sure of one thing. That you are alive.
This life is not all black and white. There is no right or wrong. The concept of right and wrong was made to question values and morality, not experiences. We learn from experiences; we never go through wrong ones.
There are no wrong experiences.
Customise it – Make it your own
As long as you are living, you will question your decisions and this is something completely normal. You will hit the wall and you will hit it hard. But sooner or later, you will stand up again. And when you do that, you will find yourself smarter, stronger and better.
So for those of you who are still questioning whether they have chosen the right path or not, whether they are pursuing the right studies or not, make sure to keep reading till the end.
Because today I am going to show you why I personally believe that from all the people who are around you, you are the most likely to fit into the path you have chosen.
Customise it – Make it your own
You are not in the wrong place. You are simply in the right place but at a higher level. Share on XAnd the only people who live in high levels are bosses.
#1 You are different
You may go inside your classroom and simply sit and feel that you don’t belong there. And when this happens, don’t think of yourself as an outsider, but rather as leader. Someone who is different from the other people.
You have different perspectives and different visions. You see the world from a different angle than the one of the others and this is what makes you unique. Difference is found within uniqueness and uniqueness is found within leaders.
Being different is not something to be ashamed of. That difference is what defines you. Otherwise you will be just another sheep among the herd. The same herd which is surrounding you (AKA your classmates).
So what you need to understand is that you don’t need to fit into a group of people to believe that you are studying the right thing or that you are pursuing the right studies.
The only thing that you need to believe in is that you made it this far, and you can go even further if you keep the same momentum.
#2 You are growing
And you shouldn’t expect others to grow along with you. They will eventually grow as well (mostly… I guess), but not at the same speed or to the same level that you are growing to.
The strangeness that you are feeling at the moment is because you are progressing at a higher rate than the others and at such speed that you started reflecting upon yourself and comparing your present situation to the one of your surroundings.
Growing is essential and it is part of the learning process. You’ll feel off every now and then and you are going to make mistakes. But you need to know that unless you go through the previous steps, you will not grow. And you will not be the best version of yourself.
Evolving requires discipline and courage. Most importantly it requires sanity and rational thinking. So stop wandering off and start focusing. You did not take the wrong path; you are simply growing faster than the others.
#3 You have reached a new level of consistency
The fact that you are questioning many things about whether you are studying the right thing or not means that you have reached a new stage of consistency.
You are more aware of your surroundings and you are continuously asking questions about the pillars of your life (this includes your life decisions, your studies, and whether you should have a pizza or a burger – the last one is a bit hard).
And this is something great.
Asking all these questions does not mean that you are not at the right level, that you are in the wrong place or that you should be studying something else. It means that you are open to learning and that you have already made the first move, taken the first step, in order to quench you thirst. A thirst for knowledge.
Don’t be afraid of asking silly question. I personally ask silly questions as well and I won’t ignore the fact that I feel ashamed sometimes, but I am sure that in return I will make use of the answers that I get. We never ask questions without a reason. Even the most obscure questions have their own silver linings.
Customise it – Make it your own
“There are two kinds of people who will never learn: the shy ones and the arrogant ones” the saying goes. Make sure that you don’t belong to any of them, because the former is afraid of failure and the latter cannot face it out of pride.
As long as you are asking, searching, and seeking knowledge, you’re not only on the right path, but you are also succeeding. Share on XTo wrap it up, I want you to remember that you are not lost.
Have faith in your actions and keep your head high. Most people drop out because they stop believing in themselves, and for the reasons I have just told you about.
But now that you know what triggers this feeling of not fitting in, you’ll think twice before quitting.
