Sudden Hearing Loss (SHL) can strike without warning.

Get Help ASAP

If you suffer from sudden hearing loss, in one ear or both, seek medical help as soon as possible.
As with all medical emergencies; the sooner you get help – the better.

This type of sudden deafness can sometimes come with pain or tinnitus.
Most will notice that sounds are being muffled, like they are wearing earplugs or headphones that block sound.

The treatment will depend on the cause of the problem.
If the sudden hearing loss was triggered by a virus infection, you’ll probably be perscribed anti-virals.
And if no cause is found, you may be given corticosteroids to reduce inflammation in the inner ear.
